Jackie Campbell to receive Raymond L. Graves Award
On Monday, January 21st at Eastman Theater, Jackie Campbell will be one of the recipients of the Raymond L. Graves Award bestowed by the Greater Rochester Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. The Raymond L. Graves Award is awarded to an individual who has devoted their time and servant leadership in the areas of social justice and community service.
Rev. Raymond Lee Graves was a preacher, organizer and an outspoken advocate of the oppressed. He earned his Master of Divinity degree at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. He served in several capacities including Director of the Economic Opportunity Center, founder of the Rochester/Monroe County Opportunities Industrialization Center, co-founder of the civil rights organization, FIGHT, and co-founder of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Professorship Chair at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School.
Monday’s community-wide celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. will take place at 9am at Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theater.
