On Saturday, October 16th, ten youth leaders from across the county engaged in an orientation to join Cohort 2 of the Youth Leadership Coalition (YLC). The YLC is a youth led collective impact initiative designed to elevate youth voice in systems transformation. Leveraging a network of partners, justice fighters and systems changers, we support capacity building to train future youth leaders to dismantle systems of inequity that ignore the power of youth voice.

ROC the Future’s Family and Community Engagement Specialist, Kilolo Moyo-White, coordinates collaboration between partners, Youth Voice One Vision/ Mayor’s Youth Council, RCSD Youth Governance Council, Teen Empowerment, RocResponders, In Control and Metro Council for Teen Potential, to make contributions and recommendations for youth leaders to participate.  Cohort 2 youth leaders will be trained in collaboration with the first cohort of YLC members.   YLC trainers, Lavendar Ashley, King Jordan and Jordan Jordan participated in the orientation for the first time as YLC trainers.

All of the participants received an overview of ROC the Future, calendar of events and learned about program expectations.
